What is the right model clutch for me?

Here at OS Giken we do things a little differently when it comes to designing a clutch kit. First off, we do not primarily design a clutch kit strictly for power capacity. As you may find in our product catalog, we might have as many as six different twin discs for a given application. This is because there are different demands for different disciplines of race.

Super Single

The Super Single clutch kit was designed to provide power holding performance for your simple bolt on equipped vehicle. This kit should also be able to handle the heat capacity requirements of track and aggressive use. For most applications, we're looking at less than 400 lbs ft of torque for a balance of performance and longevity.

*These kits typically include our release sleeve assembly.

Grand Touring

The Grand Touring Series is what we call the "Gentleman's Clutch". This is a clutch model designed for those who don't really drive aggressively, yet make a ton of power. For the most part, a lot of "show car builds with a lot of power" type of customers would like this clutch. It is designed to be easier to slip and drive everyday. The caveat is increased wear when using it in an aggressive manner like track, drift, or autocross. For those customers who are looking for dual purpose, we highly recommend our STR series.

Grand Touring Series single discs are good up to 350 lbs ft of torque, and the twin discs are good up to 650 lbs ft of torque. The soft versions of Grand Touring Series clutch will hold up to around 80% of its standard version's capacity.

*These kits typically include our release sleeve assembly.

STR Series
STR Series clutch is our dual purpose type clutch that a lot of customers love. This series will be able to handle your occasional track day or autocross type of customer. It is also really soft in terms of pedal pressure for ease of drive-ability. This clutch series is not meant for drift use. The TS series clutch lineup would be our starting point for most drift builds.
STR Series clutch are good up to around 575 lbs ft of torque.
*These kits typically include our release sleeve assembly.
TS Series
The TS Series clutch lineup is a great entry level start for moderate increase in power. This clutch is very easy to drive in single, twin, or triple plate applications while providing a fairly stock pedal pressure. These come in many disc sizes (A,B,C) depending on the type of performance build you are looking to do.
A Disc Size = 184mm
This disc size is primarily designed for your naturally aspirated build and/or supercharged  These clutches are sometimes paired with our extreme lightened flywheels. Single discs are good for torque under 250 lbs ft. Twins are good for under 400 lbs ft.
B Disc Size = 204mm
The B size disc is the start for turbocharged applications. Some applications cannot allow for a larger disc size and so this would be considered the first step for turbo cars. If you are on the fence between an NA or Turbo build, this would be a good clutch to start with. Single discs are good for torque under 300 lbs ft. Twins are good for under 480 lbs ft.
C Disc Size = 215mm
C sized clutch discs are our largest discs available for the TS series lineup. This would be your heavy hitter type clutch. Our Supra, GT-R, V8, and turbocharged motor applications typically run this disc size. Single discs are good for torque under 350 lbs ft. Twins are good for under 650 lbs ft.
*These clutches require additional purchase of release sleeve assembly unless noted otherwise.
TR Series
The TR Series clutch lineup is where you should start if you are building a track or drift dedicated vehicle. This clutch can handle a lot of abuse while providing a fairly stock pedal pressure. These come in many disc sizes (A,B,C) depending on the type of performance build you are looking to do.

R Series

Our R-Series clutch kits are all business, power holding monsters. Often found in a lot of our Formula Drift vehicles as they handle all the heat and abuse that drift has to offer. You will also see a lot of serious drag race applications using our triple or quad plate for its easy of use and slip. The center hub is separate from the clutch discs to provide more reliability and integrity to the clutch system. By focusing all the energy through the floating hub, we are able to increase reliability and decrease clutch hub failures often found in other brands for the equal amount of torque.

R2C(D) - Twin Disc R-Series
Typically found in applications with limited bellhousing space for more discs. These clutches can handle up to 600 lbs ft maximum.
R3C - Triple Disc R-Series
Typically found in drift and drag applications. The R3C can handle up to 1100 lbs ft maximum torque. For serious power applications, we would recommend the R3C as the "fuse" prior to possible gearbox damage that could occur with our quad plate.
R4C - Quad Disc R-Series
This is your serious Drag or Off-Road application type clutch. Designed to handle up to 1400 lbs ft of torque in any situation. This clutch can take a lot of abuse to the point where the gearbox becomes your fuse. Most who take on the challenge of the R4C understand that it is all or nothing in terms of risk of breakage.
*These clutches require additional purchase of release sleeve assembly unless noted otherwise.
